About the Artist

Noëlle van Hove was born in Germany and grew up moving throughout the United States. With home always shifting, she found steadiness in visionary worlds: films, video games, manga, and classical literature. Those influences now live in the cinematic, character-driven women who appear in her paintings.

In a culture ruled by screens and software, Noëlle is devoted to the physical act of painting by hand. She often begins in the digital realm, using AI-generated references as raw material, then pulls them back into the tactile world of paint, paper, and canvas. The figures that emerge are fierce, vulnerable, surreal, and deeply human.

Her portraits explore female archetypes as main characters, villains, oracles, and outlaws. Each piece invites the viewer to recognize a version of themselves in another’s gaze and to celebrate the unruly, intimate moments that define us.
